Adam Marple
Director
Adam is the Founder and Moderator of The Board of Directors, and is the Founder and Project Lead on The Sustainable Theatre Project. He was the Co-Artistic Director of the internationally recognized The Theatre of Others (2011-2025) and the co-host of The Theatre of Others Podcast (with over 36,000 listeners in 96 countries and amongst the top 5% of podcasts worldwide).
Adam has directed over 50 productions and interdisciplinary works regionally and Off-Broadway in the Americas, Europe, the Middle East/North Africa (MENA), Australia, and South East Asia. He has written, devised, or adapted 16 new works. The Earth Turns- a Climate-Inspired Performance for COP27 was selected by The Global Stocktake as an official side event performed in the UN-controlled Blue Zone for delegates of the COP27 Climate Conference held in Sharm el-Sheik, Egypt. It was turned into an Audio Play for the opening day of COP28. His production of Steven Gaultney’s Bright Light Burning was commissioned by the British Embassy Gulf Strategy fund to perform at the UN COP28 Climate Conference held in Dubai, with additional invitations to perform at COP29 in Azerbaijan and COP30 in Brazil.
Adam is a Visiting Professor of Devising and Directing at The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA). He has been on the faculty of The University of the Arts Singapore (LASALLE College of the Arts); he was Associate Professor of Theatre at Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) in Mexico, and was Assistant Professor of Directing at American University in Cairo. He continues to mentor young directors and theatre-makers around the world from the Yale School of Drama, Accademia Teatro Dimitri, The Juilliard School, and Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), amongst others, in his workshops.
He holds a B.F.A in Acting from the Professional Actor Training Program at Wright State University, and an M.F.A in Directing from Columbia University in the City of New York

Joshua Waterstone
Director
Joshua Waterstone is an award-winning director, digital producer, actor, fight choreographer, filmmaker, and educator. He holds an MFA in Directing for Stage and Screen and served as the Digital Technical Director for The Theatre of Others.
A committed ensemble theatremaker, Joshua has been a company member of foolsFURY Theatre Company and Ragged Wing Ensemble. His extensive teaching and directing portfolio includes collaborations with the Berkeley Repertory School of Theatre, Foothill College, The Yat/Bentley Centre for Performance, and Google Arts. His professional work spans engagements with prominent organizations such as California Shakespeare Theatre (Cal Shakes), San Francisco Youth Theatre, San Francisco Shakespeare Festival, Georgia Shakespeare, Alliance Theatre, and American Conservatory Theatre.
Joshua’s regional teaching and directing career has taken him across the United States, including California, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, Nebraska, and Illinois. His international experience includes work in Dubai, UAE, and Baku, Azerbaijan, contributing to his global perspective on performance and storytelling.
An Associate Member of the Society of Directors and Choreographers and a certified member of the Society of American Fight Directors, Joshua is also a 200-hour Classical Yoga Teacher, bringing a holistic approach to his craft. His work reflects a dedication to blending traditional and contemporary practices, creating transformative theatrical experiences.

Steven Gaultney
Playwright and Dramaturg
Steven is a Brooklyn-based playwright. His plays include Bright Light Burning, A Thousand Ships at the Bottom of the Sea, Limb from Limb, Negligence, and Adam’s Dream, among others. His plays have been performed in New York, Singapore, Dubai, and Baku, Azerbaijan. He was the resident playwright and dramaturg for The Theatre of Others, which produced three of his plays. His work has also been developed by Chautauqua Theatre Company and Theatre for a New Audience.
Most recently, Bright Light Burning, Steven’s immersive piece about a group of climate migrants in the year 2099, was performed by The Theatre of Others in Dubai at COP28 and by IB students of the Dunya School in Baku at COP29. He provided mentorship and direction and led panel discussions at COP29.
Steven co-founded The Theatre of Others’ annual Audio New Play Festival and served as dramaturg for the festival’s 3-4 selected playwrights each year. He’s also mentored dozens of playwrights since 2021 through TOO initiatives, including 2-3 month-long playwriting workshops and Work with Others, a free monthly playwriting event combining communal writing and discussion about the art and craft of playwriting. In total, he has served as a dramaturg for 25+ plays in the past 4 years through his work with TOO and his freelance dramaturgy practice.
